Stef Beaton

Stef Beaton is an Australian actress based in Los Angeles. She is a graduate of The American Academy of Dramatic Arts  2 year conservatory program, and is currently a member of the 2017 AADA Company as well as attending The Groundlings School for Comedy. Stef is also the co-founder of the sketch comedy duo "Bad Cookies", a group which allows her to write, direct and star in sketch comedy every week. Stef is best known for her performance in the dark comedy "Dolores" directed by Sandy Martin, where she played the deranged lead "Dolores" - a battered wife with a heart of gold and wicked sense of humor.

My last gig taught me... to find beauty in the nuances of a scene.

Proudest performance moment... playing Dolores in Edward Allan Baker’s “Dolores”. Sandy Martin was the perfect director for this piece, and getting to act opposite an actress who is like family is indescribable.

Most embarrassing audition... My biggest audition ever I totally blanked. Couldn’t even tell you what my monologue was about. BUT I haven’t been really nervous about an audition since...

Most challenging part... is keeping yourself accountable and being self motivated.

The moment I knew I wanted to be an actor... was probably when my step dad came into my life and introduced me to classic comedy. All I did after that was mimic them and try to make people laugh. There's no greater feeling in the world than making someone smile or laugh.

Dying to work with... Allison Janney and Jessica Lange.

Was born to play... Aidy Bryant’s character in the SNL sketch “Birthday Party” ft. Ryan Gosling, or Kathy Bates' character in Misery.

Learn lines by... repetition repetition repetition.

Get into character by... living as my character.  Finding their quirks and habits, likes and dislikes.

Special skill I wouldn't put on my resume… I rap battle my roommate daily sooooo probably that...

Fredrik Petersson

Fredrik Petersson was born in Halmstad, Sweden. He first came to Los Angeles in 2013 for acting classes. He later went back to Sweden, worked and saved up money for a drama school and eventually got accepted and graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in 2017.

Acting is... I feel once you trust yourself and the people you work with, everything with acting starts happening.

My last gig taught me... To act with a green screen around me. It was such a cool experience.

Proudest performance moment... When I played Harry Horner, from The Country Wife, I really miss that guy.

Most embarrassing audition... For a student film, I got an allergy attack in the Uber to the audition. When I walked out of the room, the assistant looked at me and asked if I wanted some water.

Most challenging part... To play Harry Horner in The Country Wife.

The moment I knew I wanted to be an actor... After seeing Phantom of the Opera live in London. When the chandelier rises in the first act, that was a real welcome home moment for me. The feeling in the theater and with the audience so close was exciting and new to me.

Learn lines by... Listening to them and repeating them over and over again.

Get into character by... Getting in to costume and starting to be in the time and place the character is living in. It also helps to run some of the lines.

Braxton Hale

I am a 21 year old, aspiring actor from Indiana. I moved out to LA just over a year ago to go to the acting conservatory at AADA. I enjoy living an artistic lifestyle in any way, shape or form & I will be acting until I die.

Acting is... the most intimate & emotionally draining art form in the world.

My last gig taught me... in the final cut, they probably won’t be using the take you felt so good about.

Proudest performance moment... When I was at AADA, my first exam play, I played Donnie in Natural Affection & I had to kill another actress on stage with a knife. Never have I ever felt like everyone’s eyes were on me at once.

Most embarrassing audition... My first audition ever, actually, if you can believe that... I drove all the way to Chicago for this DePaul University student film & I had to perform 2 monologues & cold read. I go into the room & do my monologues & then we get to the cold read (p.s, I was inexperienced & wasn’t aware I could look at the cold read materials before actually doing them) & there was a kissing scene in the cold read material. When it got to that point, i just froze & looked at the director for 10-15 seconds, seeing if he would tell me or feed me the next line... We both stood in silence for about 20 seconds & then he just told me that it was good & he saw what he needed. Excruciating awkwardness.....

Most challenging part... Staying positive in a world full of negativeness.

The moment I knew I wanted to be an actor... When I watched Dead Poets Society for the first time in 7th grade English class.

Dying to work with... Jonah Hill on-screen & any Tarantino directed film.

Was born to play... The Joker. Or a true story psychotic guy of any kind. Also, Paul Walker’s son because I love Paul Walker.

Learn lines by... Writing down my cue line & then my line. Then, read my own writing instead of the script. Or make a lot of notes on the original script.

Get into character by... Doing relaxation techniques (thank you AADA) & walking around my house or wherever I’m at, talking to myself as the character. You gotta bring yourself into it otherwise it’s just a person saying words that anyone could say.

Special skill I wouldn't put on my resume… I can make myself fart..... sorry

Most embarrassing audition... I was off book, and ready to go! Once in the room, they wanted me to improv everything. “Throw the script away. Just improv it,” they said. I had zero improv training at the time. 😬 Now I do!

Devan Schoelen

Devan Schoelen was born and raised in Red Bluff, CA. From a young age he found himself being inspired by the likes of Kris Kattan, Cheri Oteri and Bill Hader. At age 14 he decided to take drama on a whim and hasn’t turned back since. Devan recently graduated from The American Academy of Dramatic Arts. His favorite roles while at The Academy were “Roy” from Lonestar and “Timmy Talley” in Talley and Son. As well as auditioning, Devan is also currently studying at The Groundlings School.

Proudest performance moment... After playing a very small part in a short play, having several people come up to me afterwards telling me I was their favorite part was really cool. It validated that you can do so much without so many lines.

Most embarrassing audition... A few months ago I had an audition where I had to act out stepping in a puddle on the beach, hearing a voice from the sky, then throw towels on the imaginary puddle using sheets of paper. Let’s just say I had a few questions…

Most challenging part... When I was given a scene from Hamlet with the ‘to be or not to be’ monologue. 

The moment I knew I wanted to be an actor... When I was 14 and I watched Melissa McCarthy as Megan in Bridesmaids. I was just astounded at how honest and funny she was as this crazy character. I thought to myself, “I wanna do that”.

Dying to work with... Melissa McCarthy.

Was born to play... Arnie or Gilbert Grape.. Either one.

Learn lines by... Saying them out loud.

Get into character by... Listening to music that matches the mood of my character and moving like the character.

Special skill I wouldn't put on my resume… I think my most marketable quality is my awkward side-glance, but that’s one I just gotta show off in person.

Pavel Slanina grew up on the Canary Islands of Spain. He has been passionate about filmmaking, film editing, and photography from a young age. Eryn Orsburn

Eryn Orsburn, originally from the small town of Carpinteria, California, is a well-rounded, technical dancer and performer. She began training at the age of four in various styles, and continued this training to eventually receive her BFA in Dance Theatre. She plans to perform all over the world doing anything from company work to touring with an artist. She is passionate about her craft and is excited for what’s to come.

Dance is... my emotional outlet that lets me be the most raw form of myself.

My last gig taught me... how to be genuinley vulnerable on stage.

Proudest performance moment... When I was featured in an AMDA production and got a chance to showcase myself to the school. 

Most embarrassing audition... was a while back for a competition scholarship. I completely blanked and froze up in the middle of the combo. It affected me more that it should have at the time. 

Most challenging gig... was a show I was in called "ICONIC". I did a piece adapted from "Moulin Rouge" with very difficult partnering and my partner was not experienced in lifting. It was a long process to get it up to performance quality, but we made it happen!

Favorite dance style... Contemporary Ballet

Pre-performance ritual... a bad-ass self talk and some good, really deep breaths to calm my anxious energy.

Stay in shape by... by going to the gym 3-4 times a week to build strength and endurance.

The moment I knew I wanted to be a dancer... When I competed a solo at a competition and cried on stage while dancing. It made me realize how much dance impacts me emotionally and how powerful it can be. That's when I knew my love for it was real and I couldn't live without it. 

Song that moves me... There are millions of songs that make me want to move, but one that moves me a lot is Desperado by the Eagles.

Favorite music video... "Elastic Heart" by Sia. She really brings dance into a new light for people to see and connects it to her music which I think is really amazing. 

Broadway show... Cats, probably because I was definitely a cat in a past life, so I feel that I can channel that. I will be Victoria one day. 

Person who shaped my perspective on dance... Genevieve Carson. She taught me how to explore different worlds when I dance, open my eyes and really "see" something new. It brought a more raw, human, experiential approach to my dancing and artistry that I'm extremely grateful for. 

Dying to work with... Genvieve Carson's LA Contemporary Dance Company. I would also love to be on stage with Justin Bieber or J-Lo.

Currently reading... I'm currently finishing a series of short stories written by Stephen King. I'm really into scary stuff.

Special skill I wouldn't put on my resume... I probably wouldn't put painting on my resume but I'd say it's a "special skill".

If I weren't a dancer, I'd be... a chef.

Francisca Lozano

Francisca Lozano is a Mexican actress who has lived in 8 countries and 9 cities. Afters starting her acting training in Spain, she did a Drama Foundation Course in association with The Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in England, and she recently graduated from The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles. After her first year at The American Academy, she landed the lead role in her first feature film called Romina, in theatres soon.

Acting is... Fun, exciting, difficult and an amazing experience.

My last gig taught me... that I have to double my dose of Echinacea (natural supplement that supports your immune system) for shoots to avoid getting sick.

Proudest performance moment... I have had many of those little magical moments when you even forget you're an actor and that you're acting. It feels so good and I'm proud every time that happens.

Most embarrassing audition... was when I had to dance seductively to Reggaeton music for a cookie commercial. Definitely not my thing. I thought the dance style was contemporary...

Most challenging part... was to play a psychopath killer in my first feature film, which was my first professional acting job. We had to stay 2 weeks straight in the middle of the woods with no phone or Wi-Fi signal. Not to mention I had multiple nude scenes and I had to swim in an extremely cold lake. But nevertheless, it has been one of the most amazing experiences of my life.

The moment I knew I wanted to be an actor... was when I graduated high school and my mother kept telling everyone I wanted to be an actress because I was still insecure about my decision to tell people about it.

Dying to work with... Sofia Coppola for her next period time film.

Was born to play... Juliet from Romeo and Juliet.

Learn lines by... repeating them differently while doing my daily activities.

Get into character by... physicalization and concentrating on the circumstances.

Special skill I wouldn't put on my resume… I can crack almost every joint of my body and I can clasp my eyelashes between my eyelids...

Movie I can’t stop talking about... is Romeo and Juliet by Franco Zeffirelli. In my opinion, it is the best Shakespeare performance ever done, and one of the best performances ever from both lead actors. It's mind blowing to me how their performances are so intense, natural and truthful while at the same time using such poetic and enhanced language.

Top three Netflix / Amazon shows in my queue… Eyes Wide Shut, Boyhood and Black Mirror (I'm more into films than TV series).

If I weren't an actor, I'd be... a dancer or a singer or an ice skater or a rhythmic gymnast. But excluding artistic professions, I'd be a veterinary nurse and I would take care of cute animals like baby sloths.

The best advice I ever got… "(...) nunca se pone más oscuro que cuando va a amanecer". It's actually a quote from Isaac Felipe Azofeifa (I just researched it) that gave me a lot of hope in my darkest moments and has had a great impact on me. If I try to translate it, it would be something like this: The darkest moment is when the sunrise begins, or something like that.

Troy Lauduski

Troy Lauduski is an aspiring artist from Southern California who gave up the football cleats for a script while attending the University of Hawaii. His hopes and dreams revolve around entertaining others, on stage, in front of a camera or making a fool of himself on the mic. Just spinning around this rock at 67000 miles per hour trying to make a living doing what I love.

I am (use a max. of 3 words to describe yourself)… a laid back perfectionist weirdo

Acting is... performance. I always felt that all performances whether it be dance, sports, singing, are all acting. We are all escaping who we truly are for that moment to be something else. To portray how we want to be seen by others.

My last gig taught me... that my potential is boundless. You never truly know how far you will go or how good you can be unless you go out and try. Don't be afraid to fail.

Proudest performance moment... In college I played Benedick in Much Ado About Nothing. It was my first Shakespeare experience and I was stressed to the max trying to learn my lines and then trying to keep college students' attention with all the Shakespeare mumbo jumbo. Getting my first standing ovation when they brought me out on stage after the show, I will never forget. I felt so accomplished and loved in that moment.

Most embarrassing audition... I had to audition for a game show that was based on improv, and the last thing they do is make you defend a controversial topic. They thought it would be funny to have me defend Adolf Hitler. I was bright red but I wanted the job, so somewhere out there, there is a video of me giving a minute long speech about how Adolf Hitler wasn't really a bad dude... I did not get a call back.

Most challenging part... for me is living in this town and being patient for your opportunity to shine while watching others excel.

The moment I knew I wanted to be an actor... as a kid in elementary school during recess, all of the boys would play handball or basketball or some sort of activity. I, on the other hand, took this opportunity to do weird impressions and corky faces for all of the girls around the jungle gym. The would laugh and beg for me and I knew that I wanted to make people laugh any way I could.

Dying to work with... the ever lovable Tom Hanks, the many faces of Gary Oldman, or Mr. Stark himself, Sean Bean.

Was born to play... the comic relief guy in action movies.

Learn lines... in silence. Just me, my script, door closed. More of a visual thing for me than memorization.

Get into character by... finding one similar aspect of mine and from the character I am playing. From that point I branch or and ask why did he say these lines this way and then what drove that to be the reason why. And slowly keep webbing out until I understand the character and why he does things.

Special skill I wouldn't put on my resume… is my ability to pick up rocks and throw them with the gap between my big toe.

Movie I can’t stop talking about... is The Game. It's an old Michael Douglas movie but I alwasy recommend it to people, unique plot. Lots of twists. Watch it.

Currently reading… the next in a series I read, he's kinda like Indiana Jones. I'm a nerd I know but I like books with adventure and mystery mixed in with some historic facts.

Car karaoke tune... well if you know me, if a song I know comes on the radio, I'm going to sing my heart out. Anywhere from 2Pac to Elton John to Backstreet Boys to Garth Brooks. My nickname is Mr. Karaoke.....and yes I gave that nickname to myself.

If I weren't an actor, I'd be... a professional golfer. I've played sports all my life but nothing is quite as relaxing and peaceful as golf. It's just you vs yourself vs nature. Very calming experience for me.

Stranger Things character that best represents me… is Steve. Steve is a loverboy who even though the girl doesn't love him back is still gonna do the right thing and protect the kids no matter what.

If they made a movie about my life, I’d be played by… Dave Franco. I think he pulls off the cool and funny guy thing well. And I would hope Hollywood would pick someone like that cause he pulls of that sexy look that i never could.

Actor crush... Lily Rabe from American Horror Story, I think she is amazing.....and the legend Harrison Ford. Mad crushing on him for life.

Nyomi Yimer

Nyomi Yimer was born in Chicago, Illinois to Ethiopian immigrants. She grew up around artists thanks to her mother’s restaurant across Wrigley Field, where musicians, poets, and comedians would perform. She started out with improv and doing monologues from Mean Girls at nine years old and then studied acting throughout middle and high school. Now, she is an alumni of The American Academy of Dramatic Arts, class of 2017. Nyomi wants to play fun roles in film and television and add diversity to Hollywood.

My last gig taught me... To trust the director.

Proudest performance moment... So far, my grad play at AADA, “Loose Knit” by Theresa Rebeck. I played Paula, a psychiatrist. It took place in the 90’s, which was so much fun researching and dressing up. My cast and I all got along and bonded on and off stage. During performances we were so proud of each other for putting on an awesome show. I hope that I get to experience that kind of chemistry again.

Most embarrassing audition... My second audition. The call for the role of ‘mother’ said ages 20-50. I’m 20, so I thought I’d give it a shot. I was the youngest one there, the casting director just looked at me and said “too young!”

Most challenging part... Mrs. Pinchwife from "The Country Wife"

The moment I knew I wanted to be an actor... I was four years old and always watching movies with my family. I remember watching Matilda and I didn’t quite understand what an actor was yet, I just knew I wanted to possess powers like her!

Dying to work with... Angela Bassett!!!! Every performance of hers is so fierce and powerful. Even when she’s being vulnerable. My most recent favorite performances of hers have been in AHS: Coven, and Master of None (Her scene in the Thanksgiving episode made me cry.)

Was born to play... Beyoncé in her biopic. Hey, a girl can hope.

Learn lines by... Writing them out. Going for a walk. Singing them in the shower. Yelling them into a canyon. Screaming them while skydiving.

Get into character by... Going about my day, but as the character. Seeing things through their eyes and listening as them. Is that method? I guess I’m a little method then..

Special skill I wouldn't put on my resume… Professional procrastinator. Seriously, Garage gave me 5 days to do this and I’m doing it last minute.

Movie I can’t stop talking about... There are wayyyy too many, but for actors/artists I highly recommend The Congress (or Le Congress.) It’s a movie about Robin Wright playing herself in the future. Her career is failing, so she turns to a studio that creates a digital version of herself to use in their movies. It is pretty trippy as it goes back and forth between 2D and live action. It makes you reflect on issues such as fame and the future of entertainment/technology. If you like Black Mirror, you’ll love it!

LA spot that inspires or relaxes me… Bourgeois Pig. My boyfriend and I go there to have some tea and be productive. It has a 1970’s/granny’s house kind of aura. There’s this (not so) secret drawer where people leave poetry or notes to random strangers. If you find it, most of the doodles are mine. And there’s a dark room with a single white spotlight simulating the moon, along with faux branches and leaves that make it feel like you’re in a treehouse. There’s also a pool table I’ve yet to test my skills on.

The best advice I ever got… Be yourself. No one else can do it better.

Niccolo Marcantonio

My name is Niccolo Michelangelo Marcantonio but I go by Nicco. I am 19 years old and I am originally from San Francisco, California. I moved to Los Angeles, California about three years ago to attend the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. I’m in love with life and can’t wait to start my journey as a professional dancer. 

I am (use a max. of 3 words to describe yourself)… confident, open-minded and creative. 

Dance is... an outlet that allows me to be the true individual and artist that I am. It gives me the opportunity to release and express emotions that I am unable to address verbally. 

My last gig taught me... that patience is everything and everyone is on a different journey and path. 

Proudest performance moment... was when I performed a solo in a hip hop piece and heard my name being screamed in the audience to the point where I couldn’t hear the music anymore. 

Most embarrassing audition... was when I had to partner with multiple girls and during one of the sections of the audition, we had to have our partner roll on our back while we were on the floor and my pins came undone and fell off my shirt and I had to move them out of the way while I was dancing and partnering. 

Most challenging gig... was being an understudy for multiple pieces in a show as well as being a principle in other pieces.

Favorite dance style... contemporary ballet because I love the classical lines of the lower body but the freedom and expression of the upper body. 

Pre-performance ritual... when I sit by myself and visualize my performance. I also breathe a lot and really take time to relax and have a positive mindset. 

Stay in shape by... eating healthy and focusing on making sure I work super hard during my class work. 

The moment I knew I wanted to be a dancer... was in the 7th grade and the dance group from my local high school performed for us and I was instantly mesmerized by the technique and joy they had in their bodies.

Song that moves me... anything by Sam Smith honestly.

Favorite music video... at the moment is Havana by Camila Cabello.

Broadway show... Hamilton because it incorporates hip hop and dance in a classical setting.

Person who shaped my perspective on dance... was my high school dance teacher because she never gave up on me and always pushed me to do my best. 

Dying to work with... Lady Gaga because she is unapologetic for being the most authentic version of herself.

Currently reading... I am not reading anything at the moment other than my school books.

Special skill I wouldn't put on my resume... making weird stitch noises.

If I weren't a dancer, I'd be... an event planner because I love making people’s dreams come true.

Eddie Tyclus Robinson is a military brat, pop culture lover and sunglasses junkie. He’s appeared in Lone Star, directed by John Sayles, various other television shows and feature films, as well as Off-Broadway with the New Federal Theatre.

Most embarrassing audition… When I first started as a child, my mom dropped me off for an audition the day before it was scheduled. It was obviously not my session.

Most challenging part… A play I did Off-Broadway called Defending the Light with the New Federal Theatre, where I played a historic victim of abuse and went from before and after the tragedy in front of the audience.

The moment I knew I wanted to be an actor... At a recital when I was a kid. I had a feature, the audience applauded and I was, of course, hooked.

Kane Reynolds is from Portland, Oregon. He started off making YouTube videos in high school and has worked awesome jobs like in entertainment Laser-tag, birthday party hosting and even making chocolate bars at a candy store. He’s done a lot of Musical Theatre since High School and has just recently graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles. Now he’s ready to pursue acting in film and television.

My last acting gig taught me… it’s really okay to be myself. Outside of the character and in. Every character I was meant to play has a little bit of me in it. That’s what I’ll be cast upon.

Proudest performance moment… from a stage performance of Dog Sees God by Bert V. Royal. I was cast as CB and on performance night, in the story I get to read a letter from CS. A moving emotional end note for anybody who hasn’t read or seen the play. And just the feeling of the audience of that night after closing that scene was the proudest I’ve been of my acting so far.

Most embarrassing audition… So when I was auditioning for my college program. We were outside the hotel room audition space, 10 minutes after my time to be called. My mom, lovely as she is, straight up walks into the room while the teacher was still auditioning another girl. That girl happened to be my classmate 2 years later and brought it up because she thought she recognized me somewhere before…

Most challenging part… I’m currently in a production of the Marriage of Bette and Boo by Christopher Durang for a college. Playing a character that is aged 30 to 60 years above me is definitely a challenge. And he’s also a result of the 50’s salesman lifestyle. So it’s a little hard to identify with. It’s a lot of fun to step out of my comfort zone though and makes acting in roles I can identify with a whole lot easier.

The moment I knew I wanted to be an actor... In my drama class (how cliche) my freshman year. I did a scene for that class from Lend Me A Tenor which is my favorite play. Also every time I see a Marvel superhero movie I’m like, I want to do that.

If I weren't an actor, I'd be... probably be a geneticist. I did love biology and science in high school. But I just loved the theatre more.

Dying to work with... James Gunn. I love love love the Guardians movies. Dan Harmon, and Joss Whedon. Those two direct T.V. shows I absolutely adore. I’d also love to work with Edgar Wright and Christopher Nolan. Any established screen actor would be pretty unreal for me to act with. I don’t really know who is top priority, there is so much good acting out there.

Was born to play... you know that kid who never gets the girl. But you really want him to. Then I dish out some earned sarcasm.

Learn lines by... saying them until the words feel comfortable in my mouth. Then I memorize keywords in cues. So I don’t memorize the other’s lines giving me a need to listen. It kind of happens naturally when I do it this way.

Get into character by... PLAYLISTS. THERE IS SO MUCH GOOD MUSIC OUT THERE! Make a playlist after researching the time period and tone. Then pick music your character listens to, and listening to it to prep. Different songs for different tones/moods or scenes. It really does a lot for me.

Acting is… “Living, in imaginary circumstances.” A quote I hear from a lot of instructors that really holds true to me because Theatre and FIlm is both imaginary and creative but also real and moving.

Special skill I wouldn't put on my resume… Making people laugh without doing anything… How do you sell that?

Movie I can’t stop talking about... the new “IT.” I know it’s it or miss depending on how much of a King fan you are or of the classic T.V. specials but man, those kids just rock it in this movie, I thought it was genuinely scary. I’ve literally been talking about it for weeks.

Top three Netflix / Amazon shows in my queue… I really liked “Gypsy” which was just a small one season show on Netflix. “Jessica Jones” was amazing and fueled my comic love with my Noire detective love. And “Stranger Things!”

Currently reading… Ready Player One. It’s my brother’s (who is big into design for VR games) favorite book.

Car karaoke tune... I’ve been singing songs like Sympathy For The Devil - The Rolling Stones and Under Pressure - Queen when I’m with my non musical theatre friends. Otherwise I’m singing songs from Dear Evan Hansen and Spring Awakening.

Star Wars character that best represents me... I’ve got to say Luke Skywalker, just because I feel like I’m just starting my journey. I’m fresh out of college, trying to break into the film industry! And I’m gonna do it just like Luke becomes a Jedi.

If they made a movie about my life, I’d be played by… A young Leonardo DiCaprio or Michael Cera depending on the tone of the film.

Andrea Snædal

Andrea Snædal was born and raised in Iceland, where she was very active in various amateur theater groups while majoring in natural science in college. She has worked both as a preschool teacher and a caretaker at a nursing home, which turned out to be eerily similar jobs. Since moving out to LA two years ago, she's graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and is now pursuing her career in acting.

My last acting gig taught me… to find ways to work with people who don't seem to do their work.

Proudest performance moment… was when I wrote and performed my own 10-minute one woman show for about 150 people.

Most embarrassing audition… was when I was auditioning for an acting school and didn't really know how to audition (which turns out to be an art form of its own), so I started off by accidentally lying about my age, then forgetting my lines and attempting to improvise my monologue - shaking uncontrollably and staring directly at the judges while doing it. After that I got someone to help me for the next audition.

Most challenging part… was in the short film "Ófreskja", a period piece that takes place in the viking era in Iceland, about a girl who's been through a lot of horribleness in life and needs to find her way. There was very minimal dialogue so I had to portray every emotion physically.

The moment I knew I wanted to be an actor... I've always kind of known that I wanted to be an actress, when I was little I would put on plays and force my family/friends to watch them, or write sketches with my friends and ask to perform them in class. There was never really anything else that I wanted to do with my life.

If I weren't an actor, I'd be... something that would let me travel the world and experience different cultures.

Dying to work with... Christopher Nolan, Sofia Coppola, Quentin Tarantino, Meryl Streep, Michael Fassbender, Kate Winslet, Marion Cotillard, Chris Pratt, Melissa McCarthy, and so many many more amazing directors and actors/actresses. It's the best feeling to work with people that know what they're doing and can push you to do your absolute best.

Was born to play... a multi-dimensional, flawed, badass woman.

Learn lines by... reading them out loud a few times and attaching them to a purpose and they just stick in my brain really quickly.

Get into character by... knowing as much as I can about them and the reasons why they say and do the things they say and do; I always rationalize it in my brain and that way they become a part of me.

Acting is… all about connection for me - with my character and my partner especially. If you have that connection and allow yourself to live in it and in the moment, then everything else will follow.

Special skill I wouldn't put on my resume… sometimes I dream in movies. Like once I dreamt that I was in a horror movie where Johnny Depp played my dad (I was a little girl in the dream for some reason) and there was a monster in the pool that trapped everyone in it in another dimension and we had to fight our way back into our dimension and I ended up saving my dad after everyone else had been killed. I'm not sure how I'd fit that on my resume.

Movie I can’t stop talking about... "Dirty Dancing". It's just brilliant.

Most embarrassing audition… I went to an audition I knew I wasn’t the best for, because I needed audition practice. I was nervous and slated wrong…

Most challenging part… Cleopatra. I had to be so strong and vulnerable at the same time. Plus I had to slap around my messenger… I felt bad, even though it wasn’t real.

The moment I knew I wanted to be an actor... Not entirely sure, but I got to work on activating my career in 7th grade.

If I weren't an actor, I'd be... A cook or baker, probably.

Dying to work with... Yara Shahidi 

Was born to play... Cleopatra, most likely. I got to grow a lot and learn about myself when I played her, previously.

Learn lines by... writing them out, repetition, and using audio recordings for dialog. Sometimes I use all three, sometimes one or two. 

Get into character by... listening to music that my character would listen to or go through my characters day prior to the time of day my character appears, among many other improvised actions or mentalities.

Acting is… an opportunity to live a different or similar reality than my own. A gift. 

Special skill I wouldn't put on my resume… If a book really captures my attention I can read a full-length novel in 2-5 days, while still having time to live…

Movie I can’t stop talking about... Moana. I love the music and the growth of Moana in the story.

Logan Hunt

Logan Hunt had a very All-American upbringing: grew up in a small mountain town, where summers were spent swimming in lakes, enjoying BBQs, and playing football, while winters were reserved for hitting the slopes and making snowmen. As much as he loves adventures and the outdoors, they are surpassed by his love for film and his passion for performing. He is an upcoming actor in Los Angeles, and a very competitive one at that.

My last acting gig taught me… Take your time. There can be so much said without having to say anything.

Proudest performance moment… Back when I was training in a Meisner conservatory, there was an improv exercise between me and my scene partner, where I had to propose. When she said no, I was crushed. Just absolutely crushed. And then tears welled up in my eyes. This was the first time I cried in front of a crowd, in public. I will always remember that moment. 

Most embarrassing audition… I had quite a few, but one was at the very beginning of my career, when I first moved out to Los Angeles. I had no training, but wanted to start auditioning and book work. I used an online casting site (I forget which one) and got my first audition, for a short film or indie feature I think. I walked in...and gave the worst performance of my life. I wasn't off-book, my face was glued to the sides, which were shaking in my hands, and sweat was dripping down my face. I was so embarrassed. But it made me realize the importance of training and not just being ready, but being your best. 

Most challenging part… I did a student film for Cal State Northridge, and it was medieval fantasy with angels and demons. On a student film budget. And written as a serious drama. Quite challenging to be "in it" when you felt so cheesy, like nacho cheesy.

The moment I knew I wanted to be an actor... wasn't exactly a moment, but instead a span in my childhood where I always had this desire to act. When most kids said they wanted to be a firefighter or astronaut, I wanted to be an actor. This manifested from the love my brother and I had in watching film, which was our favorite pastime. But I always knew.

If I weren't an actor, I'd be... well, I did study engineering, so I guess...a superhero. 

Dying to work with... Matthew McConaughey, Michael Fassbender, Chris Pratt, Kevin Spacey, Denzel Washington, Tom Cruise (been a fan since I was a kid), Natalie Portman, and Jessica Chastain. Also the whole cast of Parks & Rec, they're just downright hilarious. 

Was born to play... the next Batman, or Terry McGinnis, who is the younger Batman in the future in the series Batman Beyond. 

Learn lines by... Repeatedly saying them out loud by rote, eventually saying them without having to look at the script. Then I figure out the actions, play them into the script, and by then I have the lines down completely. 

Get into character by... Imagining how I would be, or say, or do, if I was this person, with this life, in this situation. Imagination is powerful. 

Acting is… truth through imagination.

Special skill I wouldn't put on my resume… I can bounce my pecks. I was really proud of this when I was a kid. It's not so cool now.

Movie I can’t stop talking about... Gladiator. So many good quotes from that movie.

Proudest performance moment… Happens whenever I feel that I am fully present and connected to my choice(s).

Most embarrassing audition… Happened when I was auditioning for a theatre major in different colleges and had to record video auditions. I had never auditioned before and had no idea how to do it. It took me and my theater teacher at school five hours to record the monologues that I memorized just the day before. I simply did not have time to prepare because I had been constantly studying for exams. The most awkward part was when I had to tell something about myself, for my English back then was limited and I was awfully tired. I was really glad that my theatre teacher, Ms Swanson, was helping me with all of that, but later I decided to audition in person for the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and worked more on those monologues and was accepted as a result. 

Most challenging part… If you mean a role, then I would say that each role I played was challenging to some extent. My dream role is Miss Julie from «Miss Julie» by August Strindberg. It might seem like a very complicated and challenging part for my age, yet I am already working on a monologue from this play. 

The most challenging part of my life is living far from home. I virtually applaud to people who return to LA from their families excited and without any signs of sadness. Even though I have been living outside of my home country (Russia) since I was 16, I still miss my family a lot and feel better whenever I hear someone speak Russian to me.

The moment I knew I wanted to be an actor... It was not «a moment» exactly. Something had changed in me when I was a teen and I suddenly became awfully shy and depressed. To help myself open up, I signed up for acting classes and realized that I enjoy being on stage, enjoy expressing myself through characters, enjoy giving life to a written text.

If I weren't an actor, I'd be... An economist, just like my parents. Actually, now I am getting a degree in something not acting related, which, I believe, will later help me to realize myself in another field too (along with acting, of course ;) ). 

Dying to work with... Natalie Portman, Jessica Chastain, Kate Winslet, Tom Hanks, Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody, Rachel McAdams, Marion Cotillard, Brit Marling and many many British actors (sorry, guys, for not naming you separately) because they are the most diligent in their work and you can learn so much from them! I also would love to work with independent film directors because independent films dive deep inside human nature and break the rules.

Was born to play... A woman that fights for happiness in her life.

Learn lines by... Writing them down. Then write them down from your memory. If there are mistakes, do that again. If there are no mistakes, start saying them out loud, but without any particular intonation.

Get into character by... Exploring what the character is fighting for and what her dreams are!

Acting is… Being in the moment, experiencing. You may or may not do character work and exploration, but you have to be in the moment, listen and be involved with what is given.

Special skill I wouldn't put on my resume… Being funny when I do not intend to… Successfully failing driving tests…

Movie I can’t stop talking about... It is not a movie, but I have been obsessed with “The OA’’ <3

Currently reading… I have always been guilty of reading more than one book at a time. Currently I am reading: “No Acting, Please’’ by Eric Morris, “A War’s Unwomanly Face’’ by Svetlana Alexievitch and I have also started “Anna Karenina’’ by Leo Tolstoy. Plus, I am also reading shit tons of textbooks (pardon, my language).

Actor crush... I have been getting this question a lot, but to be honest I do not have an good answer. I think that Ralph Fiennes is simply fascinating and Juan Diego Botto (“Good Behavior’’) is awfully handsome. And can I just say that Mia Wasikowska and Brit Marling are insanely beautiful??

Fave travel destination… I am in love with Florence and Istanbul. My other favorite destinations are Lausanne, Dubai and Munich.

The best advice I ever got… Whenever I am about to do something important, I just remember what my mom once told me, which is «You’re not buying a cow.» This sayingbasically means that your life is not going to be ruined if you fail.

Mari Ørstavik

Mari Ørstavik grew up on Nesodden, a tiny half-island right outside of Oslo. At the age of 11 she moved to Oslo and attended the number one drama high school in the country. When she was 19 years old, she relocated to Los Angeles to study at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts. After graduating in 2016, Mari was invited to The Academy's 2016/17 3rd Year Company.

My last acting gig taught me… how important it is to trust both my director and myself completely and just go for it.

Proudest performance moment… I played Evelyn in Neil Labute’s “The Shape of Things” which was by far the biggest part I have every played on stage. I was really nervous about having that much responsibility, but once opening night was over, I was so happy and really proud that I pulled off a character that is so different from myself.

Most embarrassing audition… Following doing the sides I had prepared I was asked to do a monologue, and for some reason I picked one with a southern accent and just went for it - and of course lost track halfway through. I don’t know if they could tell, but I could, and that was worse enough.

Most challenging part… I just did Michael Frayn’s show “Noises Off”, which is a British farce. I played Brooke, who is the stereotypical stupid blonde, and I found it very hard, both to embody her and to trust myself enough to go all out with the farcical moments. But when I finally got it, it felt incredible.

The moment I knew I wanted to be an actor... I’ve loved acting ever since I was a child, but the moment I knew I wanted to pursue it professionally was when I was sitting at a cafe in Oslo with my friend Gabriel and he asked me what I wanted to do if I didn’t succeed in acting, and I couldn’t come up with a single answer.

If I weren't an actor, I'd be... a writer or a director. Is that cheating cause it’s still within arts? If I can’t be anything artistic I’d want to be a hotel or restaurant critic - getting paid to do my 2 favorite things, eat and travel.

Dying to work with... Maggie Smith!

Was born to play... is it too stereotypically Norwegian of me to say Hedda Gabler? I’m hoping they’ll finally make a movie adaption when I’m just the right age. Fingers crossed!

Learn lines by... Reading them over and over again. I used to write them out, but now the reading does it for me.

Get into character by... Leaving all of my own emotion from the day, whether good or bad, at the door to start “fresh” and then getting all of the tension out of my body.

Acting is… storytelling.

Special skill I wouldn't put on my resume… Misplacing hairbrushes. I can never find them when I need one.

Movie I can’t stop talking about... American Beauty. I will never run out of conversation about that movie.

Bryshan White

Bryshan White is a San Diego native who graduated form the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles last May. His love for acting and performance came at an early age, however moving to Los Angeles has given him an even deeper meaning to his artistry. My last acting gig taught me… I learned from my last acting gig that you must have patience when dealing with directors new to directing.

Proudest performance moment… Any moment where I've been truthful in my acting.

Most embarrassing audition… I had an audition for Nickelodeon when I was a kid and butchered the name of my agency during my slate. It was terrible.

Most challenging part… Don't believe I've experienced this yet. Of course it's always interesting finding the character at the start of a new project but you just manage and get the job done!

The moment I knew I wanted to be an actor... In 4th grade my teacher, Mr. Clarken, had the class perform 'The Lewis and Clark Expedition' and I was invested start to finish lol

If I weren't an actor, I'd be... I would be a world traveling journalist. The lives and cultures of other people is something that interests me very much.

Dying to work with... Honestly would love to be on a Netflix original. They produce really great content. 

Was born to play... I was born to play any role that is not completely similar to myself. The fun with acting is stepping into someone else's world. 

Learn lines by... I break down the script and figure out why I'm saying what I'm saying. Also saying it over and over until I can say it in my sleep (not literally).

Get into character by... I like to calm myself as much as possible and get myself grounded. Get into that person's head space.

Acting is… Acting is living in the moment, being truthful, being open with who you're acting with and listening to who you're acting with.

Special skill I wouldn't put on my resume… I'm super great at walking because I still don't drive. yeah yeah I know
