Marcus Gonzalez

“I grew up acting in my room, pretending I was in all of my favorite shows. It was escapism for me, a sanctuary.” Marcus recently found a letter they wrote to themselves in 8th grade. “I had a list of professions that I wanted to pursue, and I summed it up with, ‘The only way to do it all is to be an actor.’” Marcus studies at Joshua LeBar Studios & The Groundlings.

I am (use a max. of 3 words to describe yourself)… Pisces. Winter. Overachiever.

Acting is... Everything. It is the portal that connects us with education, entertainment & enlightenment. Acting reminds me that I am human.

My last gig taught me... to trust my instincts.

Proudest performance moment... Stay tuned!

Most embarrassing audition... I was off book, and ready to go! Once in the room, they wanted me to improv everything. “Throw the script away. Just improv it,” they said. I had zero improv training at the time. 😬 Now I do!

Most challenging part... Still to come!

The moment I knew I wanted to be an actor... when I was five and wanted to be a character on Dynasty.

Dying to work with... Shonda Rhimes.

Was born to play... a villain.

Learn lines by... breaking down the script and repeating them over and over aloud.

Get into character by... feeling for the vibe and energy of the character, and connecting that with my instrument.

Special skill I wouldn't put on my resume… I wear turtlenecks year round.

Movie I can’t stop talking about... I can talk anyone’s ear off about Death Becomes Her.

Top three Netflix / Amazon shows in my queue… I can only binge one at a time. I’m monogamous like that. Right now, I’m watching Friends for the first time, and I LOVE it! I also have to agree with Ross, “They were on a break!” - Looking forward to the next seasons of GLOW, The OA & The Man In The High Castle.

Currently reading… The Power of Unlimited Imagination, by Neville Goddard & Secrets of Screen Acting, by Patrick Tucker.

Car karaoke tune... Pat Benatar. “All Fired Up”

If I weren't an actor, I'd be... an alien. There is no backup plan.

Stranger Things character that best represents me… Eleven. I’ve been to The Upside Down metaphorically, and I am always learning how to use my powers.

If they made a movie about my life, I’d be played by… Kerry Washington or Tilda Swinton.

Actor crush... I’ve always had a thing for Chris O’Donnell. More recently, Kyle Chandler.

Sign… Pisces, Libra Rising, Scorpio Moon, Scorpio Lilith

If I were a color, I'd be… Purple. My soul is purple.

Hotel alias… Siobhan Martin.

LA spot that inspires or relaxes me… the temple on Malibu Canyon Road.

The best advice I ever got… A teacher once said to me, “You know what you are doing, and you need to trust that.”
