Acting is… Believing a set of imaginary circumstances fully enough to convince anyone watching.
My last acting gig taught me… Prepare, but be ready to throw all your prep out the window in the moment to do what they need from you.
Proudest performance moment… Pretty much any time I make somebody cry. Or laugh. Or anything, really!
Most embarrassing audition… The only embarrassing audition I can think of was at musical theater camp in 5th grade. We had to get up and sing our audition in front of the whole assembly, but once I was on stage and saw everyone watching me, I couldn’t get any sound out. After a few seconds, I just turned and walked back off stage. For whatever reason, they did not cast me as Sandy!
Most challenging part… I played Ismene in a movement-heavy production of Antigone, which forced me to discover new ways to express my character through gesture. But it was an incredibly rewarding experience.
The moment I knew I wanted to be an actor… I wanted to do theater since I was a kid, but I did my best to avoid the performance aspect until I took a beginning acting class in college. After that, I couldn’t do anything else.
Dying to work with… Greta Gerwig and Guillermo Del Toro. Also, several wonderfully talented friends I look forward to collaborating with in the future!
Was born to play… Kristin Wiig. Whenever there’s a biopic, I’m all over it.
Learn lines by… If I don’t have someone to run lines with, I like to go sit in my car where I won’t bother anyone and just say them out loud to myself over and over.
Get into character by… Playlists! Playlists are my best friend. My Spotify is so overcrowded with very specific playlists, I have to regularly go through and delete the ones I don’t need!
Special skill I wouldn't put on my resume… Embroidery
Movie I can’t stop talking about… Not a day goes by that I don’t have at least a passing thought about The Emperor’s New Groove.
Top three Netflix / Amazon shows in my queue… Schitt’s Creek, Bob’s Burgers, Killing Eve. That's my perpetual re-watch list.
