Eddie Tyclus Robinson is a military brat, pop culture lover and sunglasses junkie. He’s appeared in Lone Star, directed by John Sayles, various other television shows and feature films, as well as Off-Broadway with the New Federal Theatre.

My last acting gig taught me… How much fictional characters can impact the real lives of viewers.

Proudest performance moment… Becoming one of the “success stories” from my Children’s Theatre group in DC years ago.

Most embarrassing audition… When I first started as a child, my mom dropped me off for an audition the day before it was scheduled. It was obviously not my session.

Most challenging part… A play I did Off-Broadway called Defending the Light with the New Federal Theatre, where I played a historic victim of abuse and went from before and after the tragedy in front of the audience.

The moment I knew I wanted to be an actor... At a recital when I was a kid. I had a feature, the audience applauded and I was, of course, hooked. 

If I weren't an actor, I'd be... a host/news correspondent, writer for film and television, or a visual/performance artist.

Dying to work with... The creative teams of Shonda Rhimes and Jill Solloway among others.

Was born to play... James Baldwin.

Learn lines by... Repetition and tying to memorize the character’s experience that brings the words out.

Get into character by... Listening to music that helps put me in the mindset of the character.

Acting is… one of the times when I’m happiest.

Special skill I wouldn't put on my resume… I can probably give a historic rundown of pop culture based on the year.

Movie I can’t stop talking about... Right now it’s Get Out.

Kane Reynolds

Kane Reynolds is from Portland, Oregon. He started off making YouTube videos in high school and has worked awesome jobs like in entertainment Laser-tag, birthday party hosting and even making chocolate bars at a candy store. He’s done a lot of Musical Theatre since High School and has just recently graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles. Now he’s ready to pursue acting in film and television.

I am (use a max. of 3 words to describe yourself)… Motivated, Imaginative, and a Dreamer

My last acting gig taught me… it’s really okay to be myself. Outside of the character and in. Every character I was meant to play has a little bit of me in it. That’s what I’ll be cast upon.

Proudest performance moment… from a stage performance of Dog Sees God by Bert V. Royal. I was cast as CB and on performance night, in the story I get to read a letter from CS. A moving emotional end note for anybody who hasn’t read or seen the play. And just the feeling of the audience of that night after closing that scene was the proudest I’ve been of my acting so far.

Most embarrassing audition… So when I was auditioning for my college program. We were outside the hotel room audition space, 10 minutes after my time to be called. My mom, lovely as she is, straight up walks into the room while the teacher was still auditioning another girl. That girl happened to be my classmate 2 years later and brought it up because she thought she recognized me somewhere before…

Most challenging part… I’m currently in a production of the Marriage of Bette and Boo by Christopher Durang for a college. Playing a character that is aged 30 to 60 years above me is definitely a challenge. And he’s also a result of the 50’s salesman lifestyle. So it’s a little hard to identify with. It’s a lot of fun to step out of my comfort zone though and makes acting in roles I can identify with a whole lot easier.

The moment I knew I wanted to be an actor... In my drama class (how cliche) my freshman year. I did a scene for that class from Lend Me A Tenor which is my favorite play. Also every time I see a Marvel superhero movie I’m like, I want to do that.

If I weren't an actor, I'd be... probably be a geneticist. I did love biology and science in high school. But I just loved the theatre more.

Dying to work with... James Gunn. I love love love the Guardians movies. Dan Harmon, and Joss Whedon. Those two direct T.V. shows I absolutely adore. I’d also love to work with Edgar Wright and Christopher Nolan. Any established screen actor would be pretty unreal for me to act with. I don’t really know who is top priority, there is so much good acting out there.

Was born to play... you know that kid who never gets the girl. But you really want him to. Then I dish out some earned sarcasm.

Learn lines by... saying them until the words feel comfortable in my mouth. Then I memorize keywords in cues. So I don’t memorize the other’s lines giving me a need to listen. It kind of happens naturally when I do it this way.

Get into character by... PLAYLISTS. THERE IS SO MUCH GOOD MUSIC OUT THERE! Make a playlist after researching the time period and tone. Then pick music your character listens to, and listening to it to prep. Different songs for different tones/moods or scenes. It really does a lot for me.

Acting is… “Living, in imaginary circumstances.” A quote I hear from a lot of instructors that really holds true to me because Theatre and FIlm is both imaginary and creative but also real and moving.

Special skill I wouldn't put on my resume… Making people laugh without doing anything… How do you sell that?

Movie I can’t stop talking about... the new “IT.” I know it’s it or miss depending on how much of a King fan you are or of the classic T.V. specials but man, those kids just rock it in this movie, I thought it was genuinely scary. I’ve literally been talking about it for weeks.

Top three Netflix / Amazon shows in my queue… I really liked “Gypsy” which was just a small one season show on Netflix. “Jessica Jones” was amazing and fueled my comic love with my Noire detective love. And “Stranger Things!”

Currently reading… Ready Player One. It’s my brother’s (who is big into design for VR games) favorite book.

Car karaoke tune... I’ve been singing songs like Sympathy For The Devil - The Rolling Stones and Under Pressure - Queen when I’m with my non musical theatre friends. Otherwise I’m singing songs from Dear Evan Hansen and Spring Awakening.

Star Wars character that best represents me... I’ve got to say Luke Skywalker, just because I feel like I’m just starting my journey. I’m fresh out of college, trying to break into the film industry! And I’m gonna do it just like Luke becomes a Jedi.

If they made a movie about my life, I’d be played by… A young Leonardo DiCaprio or Michael Cera depending on the tone of the film.

The best advice I ever got… Yes you have influence over your life. You have to make things happen and if you fail you’re allowed to move on to the next thing. It’s okay to fail, you’re going to do it a lot in your life. Doesn’t mean you should give up.

Andrea Snædal

Andrea Snædal was born and raised in Iceland, where she was very active in various amateur theater groups while majoring in natural science in college. She has worked both as a preschool teacher and a caretaker at a nursing home, which turned out to be eerily similar jobs. Since moving out to LA two years ago, she's graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and is now pursuing her career in acting.

I am (use a max. of 3 words to describe yourself)… dedicated, self-possessed and passionate.

My last acting gig taught me… to find ways to work with people who don't seem to do their work.

Proudest performance moment… was when I wrote and performed my own 10-minute one woman show for about 150 people.

Most embarrassing audition… was when I was auditioning for an acting school and didn't really know how to audition (which turns out to be an art form of its own), so I started off by accidentally lying about my age, then forgetting my lines and attempting to improvise my monologue - shaking uncontrollably and staring directly at the judges while doing it. After that I got someone to help me for the next audition.

Most challenging part… was in the short film "Ófreskja", a period piece that takes place in the viking era in Iceland, about a girl who's been through a lot of horribleness in life and needs to find her way. There was very minimal dialogue so I had to portray every emotion physically.

The moment I knew I wanted to be an actor... I've always kind of known that I wanted to be an actress, when I was little I would put on plays and force my family/friends to watch them, or write sketches with my friends and ask to perform them in class. There was never really anything else that I wanted to do with my life.

If I weren't an actor, I'd be... something that would let me travel the world and experience different cultures.

Dying to work with... Christopher Nolan, Sofia Coppola, Quentin Tarantino, Meryl Streep, Michael Fassbender, Kate Winslet, Marion Cotillard, Chris Pratt, Melissa McCarthy, and so many many more amazing directors and actors/actresses. It's the best feeling to work with people that know what they're doing and can push you to do your absolute best.

Was born to play... a multi-dimensional, flawed, badass woman.

Learn lines by... reading them out loud a few times and attaching them to a purpose and they just stick in my brain really quickly.

Get into character by... knowing as much as I can about them and the reasons why they say and do the things they say and do; I always rationalize it in my brain and that way they become a part of me.

Acting is… all about connection for me - with my character and my partner especially. If you have that connection and allow yourself to live in it and in the moment, then everything else will follow.

Special skill I wouldn't put on my resume… sometimes I dream in movies. Like once I dreamt that I was in a horror movie where Johnny Depp played my dad (I was a little girl in the dream for some reason) and there was a monster in the pool that trapped everyone in it in another dimension and we had to fight our way back into our dimension and I ended up saving my dad after everyone else had been killed. I'm not sure how I'd fit that on my resume.

Movie I can’t stop talking about... "Dirty Dancing". It's just brilliant.

Currently reading… "Að heiman", an Icelandic novel by Arngunnur Árnadóttir that my brother gave me a while back and I only recently started reading.

Car karaoke tune... "What's Love Got to Do with It" - Tina Turner or "Greatest Love of All" - Whitney Houston. I go for the divas.

Star Wars character that best represents me... I'd like to say Princess Leia because she's not afraid to fight for what she believes in, and she doesn't let the people around her define her in any way; she knows exactly who she is. I don't know if that totally represents me, but it's definitely something I try to live by.

If they made a movie about my life, I’d be played by… Elle Fanning.

Actor crush... Trevor Noah, although he's technically not an actor, but he's hilarious and a badass humanitarian.

My last acting gig taught me… Just be extremely confident in your choices. If your director(s) would like something different he/she will let you know. They want a great project as well.

Proudest performance moment… As Alice in Death By Design by Rob Urbinati. It took a lot of focus and dedication. Plus I got to fall a bit.

Most embarrassing audition… I went to an audition I knew I wasn’t the best for, because I needed audition practice. I was nervous and slated wrong…

Most challenging part… Cleopatra. I had to be so strong and vulnerable at the same time. Plus I had to slap around my messenger… I felt bad, even though it wasn’t real.

The moment I knew I wanted to be an actor... Not entirely sure, but I got to work on activating my career in 7th grade.

If I weren't an actor, I'd be... A cook or baker, probably.

Dying to work with... Yara Shahidi 

Was born to play... Cleopatra, most likely. I got to grow a lot and learn about myself when I played her, previously.

Learn lines by... writing them out, repetition, and using audio recordings for dialog. Sometimes I use all three, sometimes one or two. 

Get into character by... listening to music that my character would listen to or go through my characters day prior to the time of day my character appears, among many other improvised actions or mentalities.

Acting is… an opportunity to live a different or similar reality than my own. A gift. 

Special skill I wouldn't put on my resume… If a book really captures my attention I can read a full-length novel in 2-5 days, while still having time to live…

Movie I can’t stop talking about... Moana. I love the music and the growth of Moana in the story.

Logan Hunt

Logan Hunt had a very All-American upbringing: grew up in a small mountain town, where summers were spent swimming in lakes, enjoying BBQs, and playing football, while winters were reserved for hitting the slopes and making snowmen. As much as he loves adventures and the outdoors, they are surpassed by his love for film and his passion for performing. He is an upcoming actor in Los Angeles, and a very competitive one at that.

My last acting gig taught me… Take your time. There can be so much said without having to say anything.

Proudest performance moment… Back when I was training in a Meisner conservatory, there was an improv exercise between me and my scene partner, where I had to propose. When she said no, I was crushed. Just absolutely crushed. And then tears welled up in my eyes. This was the first time I cried in front of a crowd, in public. I will always remember that moment. 

Most embarrassing audition… I had quite a few, but one was at the very beginning of my career, when I first moved out to Los Angeles. I had no training, but wanted to start auditioning and book work. I used an online casting site (I forget which one) and got my first audition, for a short film or indie feature I think. I walked in...and gave the worst performance of my life. I wasn't off-book, my face was glued to the sides, which were shaking in my hands, and sweat was dripping down my face. I was so embarrassed. But it made me realize the importance of training and not just being ready, but being your best. 

Most challenging part… I did a student film for Cal State Northridge, and it was medieval fantasy with angels and demons. On a student film budget. And written as a serious drama. Quite challenging to be "in it" when you felt so cheesy, like nacho cheesy.

The moment I knew I wanted to be an actor... wasn't exactly a moment, but instead a span in my childhood where I always had this desire to act. When most kids said they wanted to be a firefighter or astronaut, I wanted to be an actor. This manifested from the love my brother and I had in watching film, which was our favorite pastime. But I always knew.

If I weren't an actor, I'd be... well, I did study engineering, so I guess...a superhero. 

Dying to work with... Matthew McConaughey, Michael Fassbender, Chris Pratt, Kevin Spacey, Denzel Washington, Tom Cruise (been a fan since I was a kid), Natalie Portman, and Jessica Chastain. Also the whole cast of Parks & Rec, they're just downright hilarious. 

Was born to play... the next Batman, or Terry McGinnis, who is the younger Batman in the future in the series Batman Beyond. 

Learn lines by... Repeatedly saying them out loud by rote, eventually saying them without having to look at the script. Then I figure out the actions, play them into the script, and by then I have the lines down completely. 

Get into character by... Imagining how I would be, or say, or do, if I was this person, with this life, in this situation. Imagination is powerful. 

Acting is… truth through imagination.

Special skill I wouldn't put on my resume… I can bounce my pecks. I was really proud of this when I was a kid. It's not so cool now.

Movie I can’t stop talking about... Gladiator. So many good quotes from that movie.

Liana Giniatullina

Liana Giniatullina is originally from Kazan, Russia. She spent her high school years in Leysin, Switzerland and moved to Los Angeles to study at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. She is currently completing her Bachelor’s Degree at Antioch University Los Angeles, while working and pursuing a career in acting.

My last acting gig taught me… That anything can happen if it is a non-union film. For example, you arrive on location and the 2nd AD tells you to go home because they did not book the location and the police is already there…

Proudest performance moment… Happens whenever I feel that I am fully present and connected to my choice(s).

Most embarrassing audition… Happened when I was auditioning for a theatre major in different colleges and had to record video auditions. I had never auditioned before and had no idea how to do it. It took me and my theater teacher at school five hours to record the monologues that I memorized just the day before. I simply did not have time to prepare because I had been constantly studying for exams. The most awkward part was when I had to tell something about myself, for my English back then was limited and I was awfully tired. I was really glad that my theatre teacher, Ms Swanson, was helping me with all of that, but later I decided to audition in person for the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and worked more on those monologues and was accepted as a result. 

Most challenging part… If you mean a role, then I would say that each role I played was challenging to some extent. My dream role is Miss Julie from «Miss Julie» by August Strindberg. It might seem like a very complicated and challenging part for my age, yet I am already working on a monologue from this play. 

The most challenging part of my life is living far from home. I virtually applaud to people who return to LA from their families excited and without any signs of sadness. Even though I have been living outside of my home country (Russia) since I was 16, I still miss my family a lot and feel better whenever I hear someone speak Russian to me.

The moment I knew I wanted to be an actor... It was not «a moment» exactly. Something had changed in me when I was a teen and I suddenly became awfully shy and depressed. To help myself open up, I signed up for acting classes and realized that I enjoy being on stage, enjoy expressing myself through characters, enjoy giving life to a written text.

If I weren't an actor, I'd be... An economist, just like my parents. Actually, now I am getting a degree in something not acting related, which, I believe, will later help me to realize myself in another field too (along with acting, of course ;) ). 

Dying to work with... Natalie Portman, Jessica Chastain, Kate Winslet, Tom Hanks, Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody, Rachel McAdams, Marion Cotillard, Brit Marling and many many British actors (sorry, guys, for not naming you separately) because they are the most diligent in their work and you can learn so much from them! I also would love to work with independent film directors because independent films dive deep inside human nature and break the rules.

Was born to play... A woman that fights for happiness in her life.

Learn lines by... Writing them down. Then write them down from your memory. If there are mistakes, do that again. If there are no mistakes, start saying them out loud, but without any particular intonation.

Get into character by... Exploring what the character is fighting for and what her dreams are!

Acting is… Being in the moment, experiencing. You may or may not do character work and exploration, but you have to be in the moment, listen and be involved with what is given.

Special skill I wouldn't put on my resume… Being funny when I do not intend to… Successfully failing driving tests…

Currently reading… I have always been guilty of reading more than one book at a time. Currently I am reading: “No Acting, Please’’ by Eric Morris, “A War’s Unwomanly Face’’ by Svetlana Alexievitch and I have also started “Anna Karenina’’ by Leo Tolstoy. Plus, I am also reading shit tons of textbooks (pardon, my language).

Actor crush... I have been getting this question a lot, but to be honest I do not have an good answer. I think that Ralph Fiennes is simply fascinating and Juan Diego Botto (“Good Behavior’’) is awfully handsome. And can I just say that Mia Wasikowska and Brit Marling are insanely beautiful??

Fave travel destination… I am in love with Florence and Istanbul. My other favorite destinations are Lausanne, Dubai and Munich.

LA spot that inspires or relaxes me… Downtown LA! I love taking a walk from Grand Park all the way to El Pueblo or Japangeles! :)

The best advice I ever got… Whenever I am about to do something important, I just remember what my mom once told me, which is «You’re not buying a cow.» This sayingbasically means that your life is not going to be ruined if you fail.

Mari Ørstavik

Mari Ørstavik grew up on Nesodden, a tiny half-island right outside of Oslo. At the age of 11 she moved to Oslo and attended the number one drama high school in the country. When she was 19 years old, she relocated to Los Angeles to study at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts. After graduating in 2016, Mari was invited to The Academy's 2016/17 3rd Year Company.

My last acting gig taught me… how important it is to trust both my director and myself completely and just go for it.

Proudest performance moment… I played Evelyn in Neil Labute’s “The Shape of Things” which was by far the biggest part I have every played on stage. I was really nervous about having that much responsibility, but once opening night was over, I was so happy and really proud that I pulled off a character that is so different from myself.

Most embarrassing audition… Following doing the sides I had prepared I was asked to do a monologue, and for some reason I picked one with a southern accent and just went for it - and of course lost track halfway through. I don’t know if they could tell, but I could, and that was worse enough.

Most challenging part… I just did Michael Frayn’s show “Noises Off”, which is a British farce. I played Brooke, who is the stereotypical stupid blonde, and I found it very hard, both to embody her and to trust myself enough to go all out with the farcical moments. But when I finally got it, it felt incredible.

The moment I knew I wanted to be an actor... I’ve loved acting ever since I was a child, but the moment I knew I wanted to pursue it professionally was when I was sitting at a cafe in Oslo with my friend Gabriel and he asked me what I wanted to do if I didn’t succeed in acting, and I couldn’t come up with a single answer.

If I weren't an actor, I'd be... a writer or a director. Is that cheating cause it’s still within arts? If I can’t be anything artistic I’d want to be a hotel or restaurant critic - getting paid to do my 2 favorite things, eat and travel.

Dying to work with... Maggie Smith!

Was born to play... is it too stereotypically Norwegian of me to say Hedda Gabler? I’m hoping they’ll finally make a movie adaption when I’m just the right age. Fingers crossed!

Learn lines by... Reading them over and over again. I used to write them out, but now the reading does it for me.

Get into character by... Leaving all of my own emotion from the day, whether good or bad, at the door to start “fresh” and then getting all of the tension out of my body.

Acting is… storytelling.

Special skill I wouldn't put on my resume… Misplacing hairbrushes. I can never find them when I need one.

Movie I can’t stop talking about... American Beauty. I will never run out of conversation about that movie.

The best advice I ever got… That I am valuable no matter what and to never let anyone else’s position make me feel less valuable than I am. “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”

Bryshan White

Bryshan White is a San Diego native who graduated form the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles last May. His love for acting and performance came at an early age, however moving to Los Angeles has given him an even deeper meaning to his artistry. My last acting gig taught me… I learned from my last acting gig that you must have patience when dealing with directors new to directing.

Proudest performance moment… Any moment where I've been truthful in my acting.

Most embarrassing audition… I had an audition for Nickelodeon when I was a kid and butchered the name of my agency during my slate. It was terrible.

Most challenging part… Don't believe I've experienced this yet. Of course it's always interesting finding the character at the start of a new project but you just manage and get the job done!

The moment I knew I wanted to be an actor... In 4th grade my teacher, Mr. Clarken, had the class perform 'The Lewis and Clark Expedition' and I was invested start to finish lol

If I weren't an actor, I'd be... I would be a world traveling journalist. The lives and cultures of other people is something that interests me very much.

Dying to work with... Honestly would love to be on a Netflix original. They produce really great content. 

Was born to play... I was born to play any role that is not completely similar to myself. The fun with acting is stepping into someone else's world. 

Learn lines by... I break down the script and figure out why I'm saying what I'm saying. Also saying it over and over until I can say it in my sleep (not literally).

Get into character by... I like to calm myself as much as possible and get myself grounded. Get into that person's head space.

Acting is… Acting is living in the moment, being truthful, being open with who you're acting with and listening to who you're acting with.

Special skill I wouldn't put on my resume… I'm super great at walking because I still don't drive. yeah yeah I know

Jasmine Gonsalves

Jasmine Gonsalves is an aspiring artist. She graduated from AMDA College and Conservatory of the Performing Arts with her BFA in Dance Theater. Jasmine’s Dream is to travel the world and entertain people; whether that be dancing commercially, doing stand up or working on a TV Series or Feature Film.

My last acting gig taught me…  that I am a natural when it comes to camera work. I love being in front of the camera. I just have to always remind myself to stay true to myself because when I do it reads so well on camera.

Proudest performance moment… was my opening night of my Senior Showcase in college. I never danced better in my whole enter life. Energy was radiating through my body. I killed that performance and got so much positive feedback.

Most embarrassing audition… was in college. We were auditioning for our company show pieces and I was so inspired by my lovely dancer friends that I couldn’t hold back my excitement and made a shout out, “Woooooo!” In the moment I didn’t realize that that can be considered distracting or inappropriate. But I basically got asked to leave the audition room and was unable to audition for the last choreographer, whom I was most excited to audition for. I realized from that experience that I was being made an example to show other students that it’s important to always be professional, and even though my comment wasn’t disrespectful, if anything it was supporting another artist. B through this learning experience I understood that in the setting I was in, the outburst was not needed. This experience has taught me a great deal of professionalism.

Most challenging part… of an audition is to walk out knowing you put your best self forward even if you don’t book the job. Understanding that there are so many factors that go into picking a person for the role, so don’t take it personally. As long as you can walk away knowing you did your best and had a good experience, that’s all that truly matters!

The moment I knew I wanted to be an actor/performer was when I got cast in my High School play as the lead. I never thought I would be able to memorize all those lines, from that day I knew my voice was to be heard, I knew that I had a passion for portraying different characters and conveying their stories.

If I weren't an actor, I'd be... a Children’s Psychiatrist or Cosmetologist.

Dying to work with... Johnny Depp, Justin Timberlake or Beyoncé.

Was born to play... a leading actress in a TV Series or supporting role in a comedy.

Learn lines by... writing them down.

Get into character by... meditating and doing a full body shake down.

Acting is… the most euphoric and authentic feeling in the world. The idea of stepping into somebody else’s shoes and portraying them as an individual and telling their story and relationships is the most amazing feeling in the world. I believe with each character you learn about and portray, you put a little bit of you into them and take away a little bit of them and apply it to you.

Hayden Tweedie

Actress and singer Hayden Tweedie was raised in a suburb of Dallas, Texas where she began acting at the young age of five. As a child Hayden was cast as a recurring character on the television series Barney and Friends and was later a member of the Barney’s Colorful World national stage tour in 2003 which toured venues such as Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Since relocating to Los Angeles, she has found work in various feature films, notable short-films with the American Film Institute, commercials, and made a guest-star appearance on the TV series Law and Order SVU in 2015.

Most challenging part… I recently played a Mexican immigrant. It definitely involved a lot of research of the culture and history to make sure I made the character as real and full as possible. Then of course the Spanish language and Mexican Accent because I may not look it but I am super English.

Sam Locklin

Born and raised in New Jersey, Sam Locklin never aspired to be an actor. He moved to LA to pursue screenwriting, but as he focused more on developing his characters, he found he wanted to dig deeper. Now, he finds satisfaction in bringing characters to life.

My last acting gig taught me… Having written several screenplays in college, I used to be strict about honoring every last word of dialogue. This time around, the director only gave us a general idea of how he wanted the scene to go, and let us improvise. It was both freeing and thrilling to unleash what was on my mind, and further encouraged me to trust my instincts when approaching future work.

Proudest performance moment… It was during my current acting class. After initially struggling to connect to the material, I tried out several different methods before settling on one that truly helped me dissolve into the scene. My instructor is definitely not one to hand out compliments, which made his positive notes all the more meaningful.

Most embarrassing audition… It was for a commercial. I simply had to improvise dialogue about buying a movie ticket, then lift the fake ticket from a table and walk off. The ticket somehow got stuck on the edge of the table, and it took a few tries to pry it away. The associate working the camera asked, “Are you okay?” I wanted to say, “I’m fine... that table isn’t.”

Most challenging part… My most challenging role was portraying someone who really looked up to his older brother, as I’m an only child. I substituted another role model in my mind to fairly good effect, but in my heart, it wasn’t the same. Hopefully I’ll struggle less with such roles as I hone my skills.

The moment I knew I wanted to be an actor... In college, my friends enjoyed playing pranks on one another. After one of them told me some terrible (but fake) news, my reaction was speechless. When he cracked up and said, “Look at your face!”, it made me realize how entertaining I could be just by reacting naturally to extreme situations. I didn’t have this revelation until years later, of course -- in that moment, I just wanted to prank him back.

If I weren't an actor, I'd be... The most intimidating police officer, rocking aviators all day long. I’d also be sure to hand out tickets with punchlines like, “Thanks for playing the lottery. Sorry this one’s not a winner.”

Dying to work with... Mahershala Ali. Every performance I’ve seen of his has made me think, “Damn, what are some ways I can act as well as him?” Fortunately, he’s been kind enough to share part of his process in interviews.

Was born to play... A protagonist with so many flaws, he almost resembles a villain, but who you can’t help but love.

Learn lines by... I like to be in motion, walking around and using a range of tones and rhythms for each line so I don’t get stuck on one interpretation.

Get into character by... First, I think of what I find appealing about the character to help draw me into their world. Then, I wonder about their fears and intentions -- not just within the scene, but in their life overall. Creating moments outside the text has been instrumental in helping me sink in.

Acting is… A way to dive into mindsets you formerly shied away from, and being free to unleash emotions you’ve bottled up without fear of any consequences.

Special skill I wouldn't put on my resume… Getting people to stop talking in movie theaters. Cold glares go a long way.

Movie I can’t stop talking about... Vanilla Sky. It isn’t Tom Cruise’s best film at all, but it is a visual and auditory feast.

Stephanie Bignault

Born and raised in Lawrenceville, Georgia, Stephanie Bignault grew up doing theater. She’s appeared in multiple regional theater productions and currently resides in Los Angeles where she’s begun pursuing work in film and television. She also loves writing poetry and working with children.

I am (use a max. of 3 words to describe yourself)… I see myself as open, fun-loving, and a total nerd.

My last acting gig taught me… I recently had the opportunity to be in a new stage adaptation of Great Expectations, where the actors had a chance to collaborate with both the playwright and the director in the room. We worked together to solidify the play’s structure and to discover nuanced, non-text moments. It was lovely being in such a collaborative piece, because the final script we played before an audience was something that each one of us had not only contributed to, but had developed in a deeper fashion that most processes offer. That was a pretty rare find for a regional theater, and I loved being a part of it.

Proudest performance moment… One of the coolest things I was lucky enough to have been a part of was an original, devised work called Tender Comrades. It was a play some of my friends and I created. Every little component from the props, to the found theater space (it was set and performed in a funky little bar), to the words we said, we created entirely ourselves. Because I wrote my character for myself, it felt raw and exhilarating to be playing her because she was actually another version of me. My poetry was in there, as well as sections that we wrote all together, and it was such a thrill to see how each moment would be received in our intimate little space.  Every performance of Tender Comrades, which we independently promoted and ticketed, was sold out. That was gratifying. And our audiences seemed to get a lot out of it. That was the most gratifying. It’s an amazing thing to go through a process, honing your voice, and then when you offer it up, and people really dig it? Very cool. There’s nothing else like it.

Most embarrassing audition… Oh man, I was like 12 and didn’t have a clue about auditioning. I didn’t understand what to prepare and I had memorized a psalm from the Bible. So I showed up, stood in front of a panel of people casting a middle school production of The King and I and I sang Colors of the Wind from Pocahontas followed by the recitation of a Psalm. It was so weird and I could feel the weirdness as it was happening. They were really nice, albeit awkward with me, and I ended up being cast as one of the wives with no lines.

Most challenging part… The grind. That daily task of submitting for auditions, reaching out to managers, updating profiles, etc…It’s all the little tedious things that you CAN have control over even when it seems like nothing else is moving forward. Because if you don’t stop doing the tiresome leg work, the auditions will drop in your lap seemingly out of nowhere, but really you’ve been blindly working towards them all along. It’s easy to forget the universe is always watching and listening to you.

The moment I knew I wanted to be an actor... I was so young I honestly do not remember a shining, magnificent moment. But my favorite actor by the time I was eight was Robin Williams, and I wanted to make movies like he did.

If I weren't an actor, I'd be... a Child Therapist

Dying to work with... Mike Birbiglia

Was born to play... Helena in Kin by Bathsheba Doran. I’ve played her before, and I want to play her again as many times as I can. I miss her like how you can miss a friend you rarely get to see. She’s got a lot of flaws, but I aspire to live in a heart-led way like Helena does.  

Learn lines by... repetition, repetition, repetition.

Get into character by... I love creating memories for my characters. Stepping into a new memory as a means of dropping in before a scene is delicious and often opens up new doors for that take. 

Acting is… Living truthfully within imaginary circumstances.

Ryan Lehfeldt

Ryan Lehfeldt, an actor currently residing in the Los Angeles area, has quite the combination of natural skill and inspiring story. Growing up with Russell-Silver Syndrome, Ryan has let his life be a source of inspiration. By not letting his circumstances define him but instead add to his uniqueness, Ryan has allowed his talent as an actor to be bigger than life's hardships.

My last acting gig taught me… Honestly, it helped remind me to remember two things: that no matter if you’re working with someone who’s new to the business or is a notable veteran; that we’re all people at the end of the day and we all share the same basic love for art/entertainment. It’s cool to build genuine friendships off of that!

Proudest performance moment… Ohhh man… good question! In 2008, I played Pinocchio in a musical version of Pinocchio. On a day where local schools would come out on a field trip to watch a play, the theater, which houses 700+ seat overbooked. There were kids in the aisles, on the floor, everywhere. It was PACKED (worse than Disneyland in the summer, haha!) but that day was one of my best performances I ever gave. On top of that, it was my first lead AND first time singing in front of a crowd. It was a blast though.

Most embarrassing audition… So, I had an audition and I needed my driver’s license out. I’m prepared and ready to go and I think to myself, “Oh, I’ll take my license out when they ask for it.” The casting director asks for it, and of all times, my license gets jammed in between my credit cards, business cards and what not. The casting director agitatedly mutters something and I panic. By some miraculous occurrence, my license was pulled out and they got what they needed. Haha, who knew taking out a driver’s license could cause so much stress?

Most challenging part… When I was 15 years old, I was cast as Mr. Henry Potter from the classic film, It’s A Wonderful Life.  Now, going from a 15-year-old high schooler to a bitter 80-something year old man is challenging. Not only physically but I even changed my voice and mannerisms. It was a lengthy process but was SO worth it. It is probably my most successful theatrical role to date.

The moment I knew I wanted to be an actor... This is gonna sound unbelievable, but honestly, at age three. That was when I saw my first play. According to my mom, I sat perfectly still, my mouth was wide open, my eyes completely fixated on the actors and I knew right then I wanted to do what those people on stage were doing.  Not long after, I started acting and my mom asked me why I wanted to act. I replied “I want to make people happy”. While that answer has matured and developed a lot over time, it still remains a huge part of why I do what I do today. I feel this has always been my purpose and destiny.

If I weren't an actor, I'd be... A music video director. I LOVE music videos and enjoy making them for fun. If I had to choose anything outside of the entertainment industry, a pastor or minister. Something to do with church.

Dying to work with... Another great question. I have four people from different mediums. I’d love to act alongside Leonardo DiCaprio or Tom Hanks, work with director George Lucas or Stephen Spielberg, and/or act in a music video for South Korean artists; G-Dragon or Jay Park. Too many to choose from but I love working with anyone. Everyone matters to me!

Was born to play... That young, coming-of-age role. I think my life story and message fits so well with the young teenager who is trying to make sense of who they are and embrace it.

Learn lines by... Repetition. Start slow, don’t add any “flavor” as I call it. Don’t try to add extra and just get the sequences of the words down. I usually remember key words/phrases. Once I’ve got the wording of everything, I start bringing the character to life more and more.

Get into character by... Turning it on. For me, I just gotta flip the switch to say “I am not Ryan anymore, I’m _____.” You have to prepare, research and stay in character. If you don’t prepare and research, you don’t have the tools necessary in creating character. Keep your mind zoned in and have fun with it.

Acting is… The form of art that allows us to shape culture, and especially have a positive impact on those watching. It’s how I give back to God by using my talents for good. It doesn’t matter if the piece is designed to feel sad or make them laugh. If I can help you release any stresses for however long or help you look at life more brightly, I’ve done my job!

Special skill I wouldn't put on my resume… Hahaha! I’m learning to play harmonica right now but I really suck, so please don’t think I’m dropping a country album next month! Definitely not making the resume cut…

Movie I can’t stop talking about... Star Wars. Diehard fan here even before the recent movies were released. By the way, for those Star Wars fans reading this... I liked the prequels. #sorrynotsorry Star Wars is and always will be a big deal to me.

Top three Netflix / Amazon shows in my queue… Parking Wars, The Bachelor (Is Nick Viall gonna find someone yet?) and it’s not on either Netflix or Amazon but being a St. Louis Cardinals fan, I looove watching MLB Network.

Currently reading… Well, I attend a university here in Southern CA; so I can list you all my textbooks I’m reading but you’d probably skip over this question. Haha! I’m reading Star Wars Jesus, a spiritual commentary comparing the Star Wars films with Christian themes. Very interesting read.

Car karaoke tune... Hmm… I love so many songs. It depends on my mood. I can’t ever go wrong with “Company” by Justin Bieber or “Bang Bang Bang” by BIGBANG.

Star Wars character that best represents me... More Star Wars! Woo! Luke Skywalker. I think the journey he embarks on is similar to mine, as well as, his longing for more.

If they made a movie about my life, I’d be played by… If we could make him young again, Michael J. Fox. I think he resembles me and could play up the fact I have a height disorder. He’s a cool guy too from what it seems like!

Actor crush... Jessica Alba. Man, I always thought she was super cute.

If I were a color, I'd be… Green. Green has always been my favorite color!

Fave travel destination… Gualala, CA. Love the redwoods up there and the beach is only five minutes away. So underrated. It’s my go-to-getaway. Besides that, Missouri. I’ve got majority of my extended family there so I love being around Midwest culture.

LA spot that inspires or relaxes me… Santa Monica for sure. Just the area is chill and relaxing. Lots of fun to experience as well.

The best advice I ever got… To stay humble but be confident. I don’t ever want lose the sense of where I came from and how far God has gotten me. I also don’t want to lose the sense ofbeing “enough as I am” and that I don’t need to be anyone else, I’m cool just being me!

Kenny Copeland Jr.

Kenny Copeland Jr. has been making his way through the entertainment industry over the last few years working with Academy Award nominee Gary Sinise, director Judd Apatow, as well as performing in eight commercials and being critically reviewed by "Life in LA" for his stage play performance as Sebastian in The Little Mermaid. A Regional slam poetry champion with a love for writing, he is currently working on a web-series showcasing storytelling through poems called Poetic Letters.

My last acting gig taught me… Teamwork is key, and professionalism is everything. When everyone is passionate about the project and doing great work, the product can be tremendous. Thus, making sure I do my part of coming open, on time, and ready to create among a team of professionals takes our work to the next level.

Proudest performance moment… My proudest performance thus far was acting alongside Russel Hornsby on a show for Freeform. In one of the episodes I was able to explore a range of acting emotions that included sheer terror, deep sadness, tears, pain and joy. It was also an experience where I was given a lot of wonderful advice on how to utilize the camera when performing in close-ups.

Most embarrassing audition… My most embarrassing audition was for a Football commercial that I went out for when I was younger, one of my first auditions… the instruction was to catch a football… that’s it. I caught that football and ran off camera as if I was avoiding tackled. The casting director thanked me and I left, later realizing that I had done something way different than what was needed.

Most challenging part… The preparation, I can prepare for hours on end, rehearsing, getting into character, running lines. At some point you have to set it down and let the chips fall.

The moment I knew I wanted to be an actor... When I was a kid, I actually had this fantasy of going into the television and hanging out with the people inside. When I unfortunately found out that wasn’t possible, I learned the next best thing was something called acting, which blended the fun of make believing with your friends with the joy of making people happy through your creativity. Thus, I was sold. 

If I weren't an actor, I'd be... Definitely an Airforce pilot, I love planes and hope to get my pilot’s license one day. 

Dying to work with... Ava Duvernay, her work is consistently impressive with stories that touch on the black experience. Spending time with her I’m sure would lead to an amazing product with more than a few awesome conservations while filming. I certainly respect her work and what she’s accomplished in her career.

Was born to play... You know, I always wanted to be the first black Aladdin, Disney’s Aladdin! I empathized with his story; a young man with hopes of a better life who takes nothing but his positive attitude and creative spirit to not only make his life better but the world around him. That’s an amazing story and character that I would love to bring to life.

Learn lines by... I typically learn my lines multiple ways such as sheer repetition, running it with a partner, recording the opposite actor’s lines on my phone then playing it back but saying mine in between, as well as by the more abstract. For instance, I don’t just learn the lines, I envision the world and the intent. If the line coming up is about going to a restaurant, I’ll imagine the restaurant, what it looks like, why I want to go… I’ll feel the lines while I say them which helps with memorization.

Get into character by... Every character is the better or worse part of who we naturally are. Thus, I’ll see where me and the character meet, how I can relate to the character via people I know, imagine all facets of who that person is and why they behave the way they do then begin to craft them in terms of voice, movement, motivation. With this homework, the character naturally begins to take shape.

Acting is… The greatest problem I would never want to go away haha! It is challenging and rewarding at the same time. It’s love, given to the performer, given back to an audience.

Special skill I wouldn't put on my resume… So, I can spit pretty far…

Movie I can’t stop talking about... Back to the Future, one of the most underrated movies. The way the storyline connects so perfectly through all movies is superb. It’s one of those films you can watch a thousand times and always find something new each time that relates back another part of the film series. I love it.

Currently reading… I just finished up a book called “I Don’t Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist” recommended by a friend. I love the whole spiritual enlightenment thing so it has been a very interesting perspective on faith and science.

Star Wars character that best represents me... Han Solo, in the way that he is sort of tough and gritty and gets the job done. But, at the same time really benefits from the relationships around him. That’s pretty accurate of me.

If they made a movie about my life, I’d be played by… Derek Luke, he’s worked with Denzel Washington and is just a phenomenal actor.

Actor crush... I am not monogamous unfortunately when it comes to my crushes… I would love to meet Stacey Dash, Halle Berry, Tina Fey, or Jennifer Lawrence, Jennifer especially, beautiful and talented!

Sign… Aries, but I don’t really follow the signs. 

If I were a color, I'd be… Purple, my favorite color, the color of royalty, color of the Lakers, and the color of the best jelly, that’s the color for me.

Fave travel destination… I’ve had the pleasure of going to the Bahamas twice and really enjoy it over there, although I dream of going to a small town with beautiful fall weather. I grew up on the west coast, our seasons aren’t as dynamic as other places though I do enjoy the sunshine.

LA spot that inspires or relaxes me… Aroma café has always been a cool little getaway, the neighborhoods surrounding the café make a really nice walk to help one relax.

The best advice I ever got… What’s meant for you is for you and that God is ultimately in control. I’m Christian and love God so the latter has always been inspiring.

Proudest performance moment… A project named “What Was Lost”. I played a father (believe it or not) who loses a son. That project gave me the belief in myself to pursue acting professionally. 

Most embarrassing audition… Was my very first audition in LA. The person asked, “Can you hold a 1 on your left hand and a 3 on your right” and when I lifted my hands up, they were visibly shaking. The CD said “Ah must of had too much caffeine this morning”.....I quickly agreed with her.

The moment I knew I wanted to be an actor... When I was a kid I was diagnosed with ADHD. I typically had more energy than the average kid (wasn’t always a great thing with my teachers). I had a hard time fitting in. When I was 10 though, I did an after school theatre program. Joining that production, being on that stage, and being able to use my energy to make people happy and laugh made me feel like I finally belonged somewhere. That was the moment I knew I wanted find out more about acting.

If I weren't an actor, I'd be... In D.C. pursuing a life in public service
