Actor and singer/songwriter Jake Westmore is a Boston transplant in Los Angeles, currently studying Musical Theatre. He finds inspiration exploring SoCal and meeting like-minded creatives.

I am (use a max. of 3 words to describe yourself)… a passionate and adventurous creative.

Acting is… the most freeing and inspiring way to experience the human condition.

My last acting gig … reminded me that we can find a little piece of ourselves in people who feel far from our own identity.

Proudest performance moment… Singing at The Hollywood Bowl with Kristin Chenoweth was an unforgettable and life-changing experience.

Most embarrassing audition… During my callback for Evita, I was going through a bad case of food poisoning and had to sneak out the back of the dance call to go throw up! I came back lightheaded and disoriented and they called my group the second I came back into the room- it was all a blur and I probably looked insane.

Most challenging part… Playing Ruckly as well as understudying nearly all the male characters in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest was definitely a challenge. To educate myself on the time period as well as the different mental illnesses each character had was super interesting. I didn’t want to make any of them seem like a caricature of their mental illness so the detail work was extremely important to me.

The moment I knew I wanted to be an actor… was when I saw the 1982 version of Annie as a child. All I wanted to do was be Miss Hannigan.

Dying to work with… I’d love to work with Wes Anderson, Sam Levinson, Lana Del Rey, Chuck Grant, Ryan Murphy, Sarah Paulson, Kevin Abstract, Jack Antonoff… there are too many to name!

Was born to play… some characters that haven’t been written yet ;)

Learn lines by… walking around helps me learn them pretty quickly. I like to be word perfect so understanding why each word matters helps it stick.

Get into character by… I love to create playlists for every show/character I play because music is so important to my life and process. It only makes sense for me to think about the music that that character listens to.

Special skill I wouldn't put on my resume… I can knock on my head & it sounds hollow. I swear there’s a brain in there. It’s pretty funny — I can control the pitches. “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” is a favorite.

Movie I can’t stop talking about… It’s not a movie or a musical, but I can’t stop listening to Norman Fucking Rockwell! by Lana Del Rey. It’s gorgeous, inspiring and makes me want to buy a truck and escape to Laurel Canyon. I seriously can’t get enough of it and can’t recommend it enough.

Top three Netflix / HBO shows in my queue… Euphoria and Big Little Lies on HBO are fantastic and I’m rewatching both. I’m also currently in the middle of Mad Men.

Currently reading… The 1960s play The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-In-The-Moon Marigolds by Paul Zindel

Car karaoke tune… Turn on an old Kesha song and I can guarantee I’ll know all the words.

If I weren't an actor, I'd be… a full time singer/songwriter. But I’m so passionate about both so if I weren’t doing either, maybe directing. It’s hard to imagine anything else.

Stranger Things character that best represents me… Steve cuz I love his clothing hahaha

If they made a movie about my life, I’d be played by… an up and coming actor no one has ever heard of! Hopefully someone with a forehead as big as mine.

Actor crush… Timothée Chalamet, always.

Sign… Gemini, Virgo Moon, Gemini Rising

If I were a color, I'd be… Maroon

Hotel alias…

LA spot that inspires or relaxes me… The Bourgeois Pig. Coolest spot ever.

The best advice I ever got… Share your gifts.
